Valentine's Day LOVE !!!

Valentine's day feels more like a mini-reunion for us here at My Secret Garden. Due to the incredible volume of orders to be written, designed, logistically organized, and delivered, our friends from the past all join together to help make this crazy holiday a success. It is our busiest time of year where we work our hardest to make our customers dreams of love and romance come true!! It wouldn't be possible without all of the helping hands and hearts who take time from their full-time jobs and families to make everything run smoothly. The shop is stocked floor-to-ceiling with gorgeous floral arrangements and fresh-cut flowers, so take some time to stop by and pick up an artistically arranged bouquet or vase arrangement for the person you LOVE. Happy Valentine's Day! XOXO

Holiday Inspiration

The fall and holiday seasons are a wonderful time of year for designers at My Secret Garden. Loose arrangements with loads of texture are what you can expect to see from our shop. Some of the things we love are berries, pomegranates, maple and oak leaves, wheat, pumpkin branches, and dried pods. We pair them with orchids, roses, New Zealand calla lilies, peonies, dahlia, and even mums. We are excited to make your holiday table unique and beautiful!

Autumn Is Here!

The best thing about this time of year, other than pulling out your sweaters and scarves, are the fiery fall colors that accompany the season. The oranges, reds, and golds that are found throughout nature this time of year have inspired us bring a little warmth to your room. Working with the dramatic architectural branches, rustic crab apples, and burlap-wrapped vases, we can hardly wait for the upcoming holiday season! Don't forget to call and order your perfect Thanksgiving centerpiece!

LGBT PRIDE- In Memorium

It was our honor designing flowers for a memorial at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Hollywood. It was so beautiful to see friends and family gather to celebrate the life of a man whose dear friends described as over-the-top wonderful. They asked for stunning and we chose to honor their friend with exactly what he would have wanted. This is MSG'S version of the LGBT pride flag.  We are strong supporters of equal rights and acceptance and are happy we could do our part to remember a special soul who touched so many people's lives.

JESSICA & BEN

On September 4, 2011 Jessica Hudnell and Ben Dickey said their I Do's. They chose the magnificent Majestic Hall Downtown and invited 120 friends and family to share in their joy. Jessica was a very non-traditional bride. That's what we loved about her. She chose whites and grays for her bouquet and we added air plants and her Aunt's vintage brooch. When her sweet Mom saw it, she had to hold back the tears.

Jessica had 8 bridesmaids  so we decided to u
se their bouquets as centerpieces after the ceremony. This is an amazing way to keep costs down. The cake, which I added air plants and Sahara roses to was from Vanilla Bake Shoppe and had an interesting asymmetrical shape to it. The photos were done by Matei Horvath and I haven't gotten any yet but his site shows how amazing he is at capturing beautiful pictures, which I can't wait to see.

I will conclude by talking about Ashley, the event manager at the Majestic. She is amazing and uses an actual cherry picker to go up 30-40 feet to hang something. She's amazing. Last but not least, Hannah from D.O.G. - Day of Gal was the coordinator. She is so organized, so professional and a joy to work with. I am looking forward to seeing her and Jessica again. I wish I had Matei's pictures but here are a few I took myself.

FOR HIM.

We are often asked by people if there is something appropriate for him, whether its a beau or business associate, there are more choices than you think. We suggest using brighter colors or a monochromatic scheme and using waxy tropical flowers for architectural interest. Use of clean lines and modern asymmetrical shapes and adding a bottle of wine or champagne is also a good choice - here are some looks that work great and won't make him blush!

SWEET SUCCULENTS

We really love succulents plants, they are like little creatures, and when grouped together they become a little botanical world that is unique and long-lasting. First hit the thrift stores and yard sales and find the right container. Even an old tea pot or coffee cup can be transformed into an unconventional vase. A metal tackle box, a triffle bowl (who makes triffle, anyway) an army helmet, it's endless. Next add your plants. We like to mix different  textures and varieties, then add mosses, stones, crystals, geodes, colored glass, dried pods, agates, and shells. (Not all at once, of course! :)
KEEP ME HAPPY - blow them a kiss and then leave them alone - spritz with a water bottle when completely dried out (3-4 week) and give them lots of light as they prefer being out doors.
